If you’ve ever visited the break room in your workplace, it’s fairly certain you’ve seen posters for OSHA, or the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a government organization put in place thanks to the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. This organization gives you the opportunity to file a complaint if you believe the working conditions your employer offers you are unsafe or unhealthful. With a simple visit to www.osha.gov you can file a complaint or find answers to commonly asked questions. Their homepage gives a direct link to their instructions on filing complaints and gives you the opportunity there to file online, to download their complaint form and fax/mail it to your local OSHA Regional Office and even links to additional information on when to file a complaint, who can complain and how OSHA responds to complaints.
Filing online is by far the easiest way to file a complaint. Their site offers a simple form, asking questions such as the establishment’s name, the street address, management’s name, the hazard’s description and location and questions pertaining to who you are. You are given the opportunity to remain anonymous to your employer, however you are required to provide your name and phone number for OSHA to contact you regarding your complaint.

The down-loadable form is two pages, the first containing notices and then instructions on how to complete the form. The second is the extremely simple form asking the same questions as the online version. Once the form is completed it has to be returned to your local OSHA office. Their website offers a map of the US separated into local regions. Once clicking on your region it gives links to the separate states which contains the address, phone and fax number of the OSHA office. You can also contact these offices by phone and speak with OSHA staff.

If you want to report an imminent danger or emergency they suggest you call (800) 321-OSHA immediately. They do have requirements for the use of this number, of which include threats of death or serious physical harm, or something else similar to immediate or imminent danger.

It is recommended you try and solve the issue by notifying and involving your supervisors first, but if you feel the need to file a complaint their page offers a list of questions to help you gather needed information and complete the simple forms.

There are four simple rules when one sets out to write a good complaint letter: Focus, Be Polite, Keep It Short, and Know Who They Are Writing To.

Focus. When writing a complaint letter, one needs to find one, maybe two, key issues to focus on. For instance, a woman is unsatisfied with a restaurant. She may think that “everything” was horrible about her experience, but there are bound to be one or two elements that stand out above all else—her meat was rancid, nutritional information was non-existent—and those are the issues she’ll need to focus on in her letter. Without key focal points, it would be easy to ramble; but, if she trails off in her letter, her reader’s attention will trail off as well.

Most people will have a job dealing with the public at one time in their lives or another. And part of dealing with the public is dealing with their complaints. However, which customer gets ignored, and which customer gets an official apology and potentially compensation for their displeasure? For instance, a man attempts to return a product to a store, well within the designated time frame to get a refund, but the local branch of this particular store refuses to honor his receipt. The man decides to take the issue to corporate. This man has every reason to be angry, but he must remember to be polite. He must write the letter as if he’s writing it to himself, or a friend, in customer service: no swearing, no name-calling. It might feel good to rant and rave, but it most likely will not get results (or respect). However, being “polite” does not mean being “wishy-washy.” He’s still writing a complaint. Focus!

As a general rule, no one wants to read a complaint. And a long complaint is even less desirable. When writing a complaint, one needs to keep it as short as possible while still getting their point across.

Last, beginning a complaint letter with “Dear Sir” when the head of Customer Service is a woman is a good way to get a complaint, no matter how well-written, thrown in the “circular file” without so much as a courtesy read-through. When one doesn’t know exactly who they are writing to, it’s best to stick with a “unisex” greeting such as “To Whom It May Concern.”

It’s easy to chew someone out when one displeased, but to write an effective complaint, one that elicits change in the most optimal way, he or she must remember the “rules.”

Getting out into the real world is hard. You love the pay. You love feeling that you have a purpose in life. You might even like the benefits of working. The one thing we don’t like? Well, there are a number of things that you might not like. This got us wondering. What do people complain about as they work? Well, planet antares complaints dot com went to look at that and here are some of the most common work complaints that people have.

The first thing is that they don’t like some shifts. Even though you ask for a certain shift, you might at times be asked to work a different shift. You just have to get used to this. When you do this, you will find that you might not be as happy when you work at different times.

Other times, people complain about the break rooms or just the fact that when you are on break, they ask you to do more. Everyone seems to be understaffed anymore due to hard economic times. Therefore, they might skimp on some things. They might also try to work you during those times when you are legally able to take breaks.

Some get sick of people calling in all the time. When you get into the work world you will learn that some people will call in for some of the stupidest things. This aggravates people because one of two things happen. They either call in someone on their day off to cover that person’s shift. If that doesn’t happen, then often times, they are again understaffed and this means that you have to work harder because someone can’t pull their weight. This is annoying and we understand this. That is why some businesses have a policy as to how often you can call off before they let you go.

Others find that personalities don’t mix. You might like to get things done right away, but the one thing you learn is that teamwork is the only way to get things accomplished. However, you might be stuck with someone who just doesn’t want to get to work. there have been some who talk non stop and so forth.

There are many more complaints than just this. There are some who say that they are cutting back hours while others complain about different things. You will find something that you don’t like. It’s a part of life.

How annoying is it when you’re using your cellphone and you just randomly lose reception, drop calls, inability to make calls, or send texts? How much more annoying would it be if your phone was not only doing all of those things but also telling you that there is nothing wrong with its signal strength? You would assume your mobile phone was broken wouldn’t you?

The above is a common complaint planet antares complaints dot com has heard among users of the iPhone 4, the crazy thing about the issue is that your phone is not broken at all.

So what is wrong with the iPhone 4?

Recently Apple the producing company of the iPhone 4 made a public announcement stating that the formula used in making the iPhone indicate to its user the current signal strength in the area is in fact significantly off by the manufacturers fault therefore the problem is a software issue and not the phone itself.

According to Apple due to the miscalculation in the formula which depicts the signal strength of the reception of the iPhone the phone will commonly display two more bars than the signal strength is actually at. What we mean by this is if your phones signal strength is only 2 bars it is mistakenly telling you that it has 4 or more bars by software flaw.

So how can I fix my cellphone to tell me what strength my cellphone reception is actually at?

Apple has released to the public a software update which can be put onto their cellphone models which will correct the reception status on the phones display.

If Apples formula was flawed how do I know this software update is actually right?

Apple is taking on the formula for depicting cellphone signal strength from AT&T’s recommended formula guide for cellphones. The actual signal strength of the cellphone will not be changed but the displayed signal strength will now be accurately displayed instead of a few bars off.

It is also noted if you have been making complaints about the overall signal strength of the apple phones they have also admitted to a design flaw with the antennae design itself that they place in their phones. Apple has made several admittances to many different flawed designs in their cellphones which still continue to experience error after the updated new software or model.

E-mail has evolved into the most widely used form of communication ever. It it free, it is fast, and simple to use. With mere clicks on the screen an e-mail can be sent to thousands of people. It didn’t take long before the marketing gurus to figure out a way to use e-mail to threaten the wallets and sanity of each person with an email account.

The term used for unwanted advertising through e-mail is “spam”. Perhaps a devastating blow to the makers of the faux meet product, it has become a widely known term which kindles feelings of vexation and contempt towards modern-day advertisers. Planet Antares Complaints gives tips how to reduce this e-mail spam.

Many of these companies, however, respond to complaints of the consumers. Many spam emails that are sent contain a link which can be clicked to unsubscribe the recipient and they would no long receive spam/emails from that company.

Having that feature isn’t enough to ease the minds of the average email user. Devices such as spam filters has been a way to combat spam, but even this is not effective in many cases. How can one surf the web, use email, and live a life free of spam? Simple; NEVER give any information on the internet.

Once a company has someone’s information they will sell/give information to sister companies, subsidiaries, shareholders etc. Information can be retrieved by inputting names, addresses, email addresses, etc. Even online surveys that offer people rewards and prizes for filling out information are subject to spam emails. Likes, dislikes, income ranges, addresses, employment info is all grabbed by companies, sold, traded, and made subject to numerous spam mails.

One of the biggest complaints about spam is that there is no legal way to prevent new companies from bombarding an email account with unnecessary advertising. This complaint has often led to people preferring not to use email and give up on a free mailing system due to the frustration.

Another complaint about email and spam is that the spam filter often blocks emails from trusted and accepted sources; i.e. a friend, relative, or company. Often, this it enough to have the email user swear profanities at the computer.

In conclusion, planet antares complaints advises following these simple rules to reduce spam: Do not give information on the internet. Send unwanted mail into the spam box (available as an option to most email accounts). Check the spam folder for wanted and trusted email. Make sure friends and relatives do not give out information.

Anyone who has never experienced an unwanted telephone call from telemarketers either does not have a personal telephone or is too young to use a telephone. For the rest of society, telemarketing calls have become a daily invasion of privacy. To avoid talking with telemarketers consumers have employed various techniques such as telephone Caller ID and answering machines to screen incoming calls. No matter how alert the average consumer is, the calls continue to come.

Are there any legal actions that can be taken to stop, or reduce, the calls?
Is there any way to register a complaint against persistent callers?
Is there a Federal agency that has the responsibility to investigate unsolicited callers?
The simple answers are: yes…yes…and yes.

Consumer complaints about unsolicited calls from telemarketers have resulted in the passage of two Federal statues: the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA) and the Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud Abuse Prevention Act (TCFAPA). As an individual, you can register your personal telephone on the National DO NOT CALL list either by calling toll free at 1-888-382-1222 or online at http://www.donotcall.gov. To register by phone, you must call from the telephone number that you want to list. Online registration allows you to enter up to three numbers per online visit. Once your personal telephone number is on the list, telemarketers have thirty-one days to stop calling. You also have the right to instruct the telemarketers to put your telephone number on their do-not-call list. Planet antare complaints recommends keeping a note of when and who you told not to call. The TCPA authorizes the Federal Communications Commission to receive complaints and prosecute violators. The TCFAPA authorizes the Federal Trade Commission to enforce Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) restrictions on telemarketers and to initiate prosecution of violators. Consumer complaints list the most frequently violated restriction of the TSR as calls before 8 AM or after 9 PM. Persistent callers have been, and will continue to be, taken to court and fined when found guilty.

You do not have to be inconvenienced in your own home. Planet Antares Complaints recommends learning what your consumer rights are regarding unwanted and unsolicited sales calls and freely share that knowledge with the next telemarketer you engage.

There are steps you can take to reduce some of your junk mail. Contact the Direct Marketing Association to be removed from mailing lists. You can call major marketing companies and ask them to remove your name. Avoid sending warranty cards and mail-in rebate offers. Planet Antares Complaints advises removing you name from the national mailing lists will help a lot. Contact the service department of companies that send you unwanted mail and tell them to take your name off their list.

Getting e-mail junk mail is another complaint people have today. It can fill up your whole mail and spam folder. One thing you can do is remove your personal information from web service directories. Also, take off your e-mail address as well. You will not get rid of everything but this is a start of reducing it. Another thing you can do is have two accounts. One for your personal e-mails and the other for chat rooms, public posting, subscriptions and buying online.

You can also register a complaint. Consider using a junk mail filtering program. They can block these e-mails as well. People finders are another way to locate, identify and find out your information. Do not waste your time opening the junk mail. You can just delete it. If you open it up, you will only encourage them to send you more. You can write a complaint letter too. This sometimes will help the mail from pouring in.

There are many ways to stop the junk mail from piling in on you. Do not enter contest or donate to charities or register for meetings. Ordering from a catalog and having a credit card will also prompt more junk mail to come in. Signing up for health care or car insurance is another way for them to sell your address.

People complain all the time about unwanted mail. It will fill your mailbox up everyday if you let it. You will never get rid of all of it, but you can sure cut down on the ones that keep on coming in. It may take a little time and effort, but you can reduce the amount you get in the mail and you e-mail just by taking a few easy steps.

Small investors and individuals aren’t the only targets of scammers. Business owners who sell expensive products (like vintage champagne) are becoming the choice target of thieves using stolen credit cards. The potential victims don’t necessarily sell their products via the Internet, but instead, are being enticed into the scam by email inquiries. The business owner accepts the offer and the credit card payment. The buyer may pick up the merchandise or have the business owner ship the product and only after the product is gone, the seller is hit with a charge reversal when the card theft is discovered.

Here are a few tips to help business owners avoid being taken advantage of.

If you’re selling a high-value product, simply be more aware that you may be targeted by scammers. Examine large sale requests carefully and verify that the buyer is using a valid name and address. Ask for identification when completing a sale.

If you’re asked to deliver (or ship) the product, check out the location where the goods are to be delivered. If the receiving location is a warehouse or other unlikely delivery location for the goods you’re selling, don’t complete the sale.

If you accept credit cards for payment, use an address verification service. If the delivery address doesn’t match the address on the account, the sale will be flagged as suspect. If an unknown buyer wants to place a large order, don’t accept a credit card payment for a first-time order.

If the transaction seems suspicious to you, don’t agree to deliver the product immediately. Waiting as little as 24-48 hours may provide enough time to uncover a fraudulent credit card transaction. Also, before you deliver the product, contact your merchant account provider to see if they can verify that the transaction is legitimate.

Have you ever wondered if you are a micro manager? Maybe you have gotten the feedback that you tend to micro manage, either directly or indirectly, from your team but have not wanted to acknowledge it. You also could truly not be sure in which case it would be a good idea to ask your team directly. You may have one picture of your leadership style and the team might have a different picture entirely. What they think of you is mainly based on perception, it might not always be accurate, but knowing the perception is out there can help you modify it.
You are currently in a leadership position because you have excelled in past positions. You can meet difficult deadlines and deliver necessary results. Since you are a high performer, you expect the same out of your team. You are used to getting everything done and might have a hard time letting go enough to take a chance and see whether the people you supervise can also deliver. Rather than delegate or train someone you may find it easier to do things yourself, although you sometimes wonder why you spend 50 hours a week at the office. If this describes you, you have micro management tendencies. Qualities that make you a superstar individual contributor do not translate into making you a flexible manager.

To channel these tendencies in a more positive direction, make a list of your current duties. Are there any on there that should not belong to you? If so, make it a goal to train a person a week on a process. Once that is done, you will have more time for management duties. Collaborate often with your team, give them challenging assignments but remain supportive. Let them know you are available if they have questions or need direction but you have faith that they can get the job done. Remember, a smoothly functioning team can accomplish much more than you ever could alone. Practice succession planning, if you were to get promoted do you have someone in place who could take on your duties? You team wants to grow too. Finally, for experienced team members it is more effective to give them a goal versus dictating every step. Trust that your team can deliver and collaborate with them often, they will be much more motivated to meet goals. Remember to stay flexible and keep your sense of humor, this will serve you well in challenging times.

When you have a lot on your plate, it can be hard to accomplish everything you hope to. However, with the proper organization and careful time management, you can be done quicker than you ever imagined.

The first step in dealing with these daunting tasks should always be making a “to do” list. If you have a lot to get done in a short amount of time, it is very easy to forget about certain tasks, and sometimes those might be the most important of the bunch. Find a pad a paper and make that your “to do” pad. Anytime you need to get a lot done, brainstorm on this pad and scrawl out whatever comes to mind. Even if the task can be put off for a later time, it is vital to get it on paper as it might help you remember similar tasks that are more important.

Once you have recorded everything that comes to mind, circle the tasks that you need to complete right away. Copy the circled tasks on the next page of the notepad. This will be your official “to do” list for that day. Make sure not to stretch yourself too thin. If you have some extra tasks you’d like to complete, write them at the bottom of the page, but note that they are optional and only to be worked on once you have finished the more important stuff.

Separate short tasks from long tasks. You never want to do two long tasks in a row as it might tire you out or discourage you because of how little progress you are making. Do your best to follow a short task with a long task and vice versa.

Make sure to include breaks in your schedule. When you are on a roll, keep working, but if you start to feel tired, take a 15-30 minute rest and get something to drink. As silly as it may sound, it is important to stay hydrated no matter what the task. Also, make sure to eat plenty throughout the day so you don’t lose energy as you near the end of completing your objectives.

When you finally finish all of the work you set out to do, partake in an activity you really enjoy. A reward at the end of a long, hard day’s labor will make you appreciate the work you’ve done even more.
